Project Title Flight Line Security Fencing Marine Corp.
Project Location Camp Pendleton, California
Project Type Security Fence and Gate Construction
Project Description
Sloan Security Group successfully carried out this design/build contract, which entailed designing an effective perimeter security perimeter to match the client’s budget.  Sloan worked with SouthBay EDC and the Marine Corps to successfully install a key security segment that sealed off Camp Pendleton’s helicopter flight line from pedestrian and vehicle traffic.  To successfully complete the project, SSG coordinated locations and construction schedules with all the Marine Corp stakeholders to minimize the impact of fence construction on parking spaces, pedestrian traffic, and general vehicle traffic.  SSG installed 5,871 lf of 8’ and 12’ high security fencing and 10 non-motorized gates ranging from a 24’x8’ Tymetal slide gate to a 24’x12’ manual swing gates.  In addition, SSG prepared the site for additional turnstile/gates to be installed when funding permits.   SSG also completed extensive as-built drawings for the client.
Project Challenges
  • Negotiating with multiple Marine Corps stakeholders to finalize the location of the security fence;
  • Safely installing razor wire in a busy work site;
  • Safely completing construction despite high volume pedestrian and vehicle traffic; and
  • Not damaging extensive unmarked utilities
